There are no accounts
BBQHQ has no sign-in, no user accounts and no profiles. There is nothing to register for, and using the site creates no personal record of you.
What analytics records, and what it cannot
With your consent, BBQHQ records a small set of defined events so we can tell which pages actually help. Each kind of event has a fixed, declared shape, and none of those shapes has anywhere to put personal data.
That is built into how the site works rather than being a promise about it, and it works in two ways. An event is assembled from that fixed shape and keeps only the details the shape names, so anything else attached to it — a search term, an address, anything — is discarded in your browser before the event is sent, not filtered out afterwards by somebody else. And anything named for an email address, a name, an identifier, an address, a postcode, a location or a search term is refused outright, which stops the event entirely rather than merely trimming it.
- That a page was viewed, and what kind of page it was — never who viewed it
- That a search happened — never what was searched for
- That a cooking estimate was requested, an evidence disclosure opened, safety guidance shown, or a share invoked
Where those events go
To two destinations, both only after you consent: HEKNO's own analytics, and Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-3E7ZDWFV97). Both receive the same event, built once, through the same governed path. There is no separate Google tag operating outside that path, because a tag mounted independently would fire where your choice could not stop it.
The tools do not send us what you asked them
The cooking chooser and the party planner keep their state in the page address, so a part-made selection can be bookmarked or shared. That information is used to render your answer in your own browser. It is not transmitted to analytics: the events above record that a calculation happened, not what was calculated.
Lawful bases
Consent, for analytics. Legitimate interests, for keeping the site available and secure. We do not rely on any basis that would permit analytics without your agreement.
Your rights
You have the right of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing it stops future analytics immediately.
Because BBQHQ holds no account and no identifier for you, we will usually have no personal data to retrieve. Enquiries: privacy@hekno.co.uk. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If this notice changes materially, the date above changes with it, and the consent banner is shown again where the change affects what you previously agreed to.
