THREE ARTICLES READ IN FULL TO SETTLE ONE QUESTION, AND THE ANSWER IS THAT NOBODY ADDRESSES IT. BBQHQ asked whether any strong publisher states that grilled vegetables need no resting step — which would have unlocked 144 planner combinations for sweet pepper and corn through explicit no-rest rather than through a fabricated zero. A search summary attributed a specific post-grill instruction to MSU: cover tightly with plastic wrap for five to ten minutes to finish cooking. THAT INSTRUCTION IS IN NONE OF THE THREE PAGES. Vegetable grilling tips (Jeannie Nichols, 2015) gives times and no post-grill step; Grillin' vegetables (Laura Anderson, 2014) gives one tomato time and no post-grill step; Eight tips (Jeannie Nichols, 2013) says only that leftovers go in the refrigerator, and — for FRUIT rather than vegetables — to allow cooling time before serving because of high water content. So the vegetable rest question is neither answered yes nor answered no by this publisher: it is not addressed, which is a checked silence and not permission to plan.
What it may be cited for
Culinary practice
- Explicitly not safety: Grilling-technique articles are not food-safety instruments.
What we recorded from it
“Most vegetables precut into half-inch slices will cook in six to 10 minutes on the grill over medium heat.”
Across three Michigan State University Extension articles on grilling vegetables, times and technique are given — half-inch slices six to ten minutes over medium, whole potatoes up to 45 minutes, tomatoes three to four minutes cut-side down — and no post-grill resting, covering or standing step is stated for any vegetable.
- Read specifically to answer whether a strong publisher states that grilled vegetables need no resting step. It does not state that, and it does not state the opposite either.
- The only post-cooking instruction anywhere in the three is for FRUIT: allow cooling time before serving, because of high water content.
- A search summary attributed a five-to-ten-minute covered steaming step to MSU. None of the three articles contains it.
